Public House, a gastropub in Chicago, created a Halloween-themed cake shake offered all of October and appropriately named, “Monster Mash.” Creator of the Monster Mash Cake Shake and Corporate Pastry Chef, Jimmy MacMillan says, “Every month I try to create a new cake shake flavor that tastes better than the last and a little more extreme than the next,” said Chef MacMillan. “Given the creative aspect behind the October holiday, it was easy to make this one an outrageous-looking treat with no boundaries.” The insta-famous cake shake follows the over-the-top profile Public House’s staple cake shakes have including a giant piece of cake placed on top of the glass. Providing the best of both worlds (chocolate and beer) “Monster Mash” is made with a seasonal Schlafly’s Pumpkin Ale and mixed with chocolate ice cream and a piece of cake. The second piece of purple colored cake with an orange buttercream is placed on top of the glass and garnished with gummy eyes. In addition, the glass is rolled in a neon green buttercream and finished off with Halloween-themed sprinkles.
